Preparing for a Rainy Weekend

If you have reviewed the forecast for this weekend, both Friday and Saturday currently show a greater than 70% chance of rain and lightning. Please review the important meet and team procedures below.

Be sure to pay attention to Team App Notifications should we experience the following.

Refund Policy

Once competition begins, no refunds will be issued to registered participants by meet management. Rain alone will not delay or cancel the meet; only lightning can cause a suspension of competition. This is standard practice in track and field, as meet directors cannot control inclement weather conditions.

Lightning Procedure

In the event of lightning in the area, all patrons will be required to clear the stadium and return to their vehicles. Competition will be delayed for a minimum of 30 minutes. Each additional lightning strike within the area will result in another 30-minute delay, meaning the clock resets with every strike.

Friday Team Lightning Procedure

If we experience a lightning delay on Friday evening, FPR SPEED will not continue competition as a team. This decision is being made to avoid an extremely late evening for our 12U and younger athletes, who may ultimately not have the opportunity to compete due to facility rental time restrictions. In many cases, later events may be canceled or moved to the following day.

Saturday Team Lightning Procedure

If we experience a lightning delay on Saturday, the team will wait a maximum of one hour for competition to resume. If the delay extends beyond one hour, FPR Premier will conclude competition for the day.
